Many of our classes are rooted in the vinyasa (or flow) style of yoga, meaning the poses are linked together with the breath. It's a very fun and creative approach to yoga. The Level 1 and 2 classes can be quite vigorous and you may break a sweat! If you are attending these two classes you should be familiar with sun salutations. Please read below for additional details about the classes and make note of which classes are most suitable for beginners. If you have any questions about which class is best for you please don't hesitate to call us at 859.433.7787 or email barefootworks@hotmail.com. We want to assist in finding the most perfect class for you!

Class Description:

Yoga Basics

– Welcome to the world of yoga, where breathing is the only requirement. People all shapes, sizes, age and gender can do yoga. In this class you'll build the basic foundation for your yoga practice. You'll learn the basics in a safe, nurturing, and thorough way. You will also receive individualized attention as you gain flexibility, strength, and balance. Suitable for beginners.

Beyond Yoga Basics

- is an advanced beginners yoga class geared toward students who have challenges to flexibility due to such causes as genetics, sports, aging, and long hours at a desk. With the generous use of props and pose modifications, we will flow through sun salutations, standing poses, seated postures, twists, backbends, and inversions with a focus on expanding and releasing the larger muscle groups. Suitable for beginners.

Express Yoga

– Have you spent your morning in a long meeting or sitting at your desk staring at a computer? For this reason and others you may want to join us for Express Yoga. This one hour class is perfect for those with limited time and those wanting a healthier lunchtime alternative. You'll leave class feeling de-stressed, de-compressed and ready to tackle the rest of your day. Suitable for beginners.

Level 1

– Level 1 is designed for those familiar with sun salutations and the principles of alignment of basic poses learn in Yoga Basics. We will use the poses you learned in Yoga Basics and weave them into a creative yoga sequence, linking the movement with the breath. We explore basic yoga poses and their variations in a more challenging yet comfortable way. Not suitable for beginners.

Level 2

– Level 2 is designed for the student who is ready to advance their knowledge, increase their strength, and deepen their practice. Energetic and challenging, in these classes we explore more challenging poses at a more vigorous pace. Not suitable for beginners.

Yin Yoga

– Yin Yoga consists of passive poses and focus mostly on the hips, pelvis, lower back, and knees. Poses are done primarily on the floor and are held from 3 to 5 minutes, making it a complementary practice to the vinyasa classes which are more active. Yin Yoga targets the deep connective tissues of the body. This class is suitable for all levels. Suitable for beginners.

YinYasa

– Yinyasa features both the active movement of vinyasa, as well as the complementary practice of yin which focuses on release of the deep connective tissues. Like a satisfying exhale after rapid breathing, the passive poses of yin feel deeply relaxing especially following the strength-building poses typical of vinyasa. The goal of this class is to help build focus and strength, and then to enjoy the relief of passive stretching and a more peaceful mind.

Yoga for Stress Relief

– Picture this...your boss wants that report yesterday, you have to pick little Emma up from soccer practice, and get to the grocery store to pick up things for tonight's dinner. It's enough to make a very sane, sensible person go a little mad. At least momentarily. At times like this a deep breath and a downward facing dog can do wonders. We all know that stress can lead to a variety of health problems. It's proven, it's a fact. Yoga offers a great tool for stress management and relaxation. This class will help you to reach a state of deep peace in body, mind and spirit. We'll explore yoga poses in a way that will encourage you to relax and release anxiety. We'll encourage further relaxation by controlling the breath, which signifies your vital energy. Yoga teaches us that to control our breath is to gain control of our body and mind. To completely balance out the class, we'll then work to begin to train the mind with meditation. Suitable for beginners.
