Beginners
Thank you for being here! The very fact that you are visiting our website means you are curious about yoga. You probably also are at least partially convinced yoga is something you’d like to try as a means for becoming more fit, flexible, and focused. Yoga can help you to become all of these and even more.
You’ve probably heard yoga increases flexibility, strengthens muscles, and improves balance and posture. What you probably don’t know is that yoga also can lower your blood pressure, improve joint health, relieve pain, relax the nervous system, and help you become a happier and healthier person.
There are also many daily benefits. For example, if you get stuck in traffic, rather than exclaiming a few four letter words you can close your eyes, take four deep breaths as you’ve learned in class, and remind yourself that all will be well. When your boss gives you yet another assignment and you haven’t yet finished the last one, you can recall a few poses that are easily practiced at your desk. You find they help your mind and body to recover and relax.
Finally, there is the cool stuff. You can bend over and touch your toes. You can easily balance on one foot. You can fold into downward facing dog and be a “bridge” as your kids shimmy beneath you. Yoga is playful. It’s fun. And it’s exercise!
You might be thinking to yourself, “Yeah that sounds great and all BUT…..” Then you begin to list the reasons why you can’t do yoga. You tell yourself that you’re too old, too young, too thin, too overweight. You think you don’t have enough money, enough time, or enough patience.
